From mouse to mike Nadeem Ahmed – a cricket commentator in the making


Sports commentary has morphed into a speciality that adds that vital spice to the game, especially since the TV viewers of the game now number in millions all across the globe.
A computer engineer who is an aspiring young cricket commentator from our neighbourhood, Nadeem Ahmed, has been steadily climbing the rungs of the cricket commentary firmament through sheer passion for the job and loads of hard work.
His yearning to be a commentator was evident from his childhood days when he would eagerly hold the mike and give his comments at small local tournaments. A stroke of providence saw him in the commentary box at the T20 Cricket tournament organized by Shanta Durga Kala Sangh at MPT ground in 2009. His performance drew all round appreciation and this led to further commentary assignments in other local cricket tournaments in Goa. His big break came when he was called to give commentary for the GCA Goa Professional League Edition 1.
His talent and extra ordinary efforts were highly appreciated by the officials of the GCA . Nadeem got a break as an official GCA commentator at Goa Professional League in 2009. Nadeem grabbed the opportunity to meet well known commentators like Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar and Arun Lal. He also was a TV Commentator for INGOA and Prudent Media .
Nadeem has been invited to represent as a official commentator for Kerala Cricket League to be held next month at Sharjah.
Nadeem is working at enhancing his cricketing knowledge through research on internet. Cricket commentary is now the domain of former accomplished cricketers. Making inroads in this field for non-playing commentators is certainly an uphill task. Nadeem is nevertheless determined to carve his niche in this field.
