The Just for Kix Football Festival
The Just for Kix Football Academy , Chicalim had their annual Football Festival on the 15th of May at
Tilak Maidan, Vasco which coincided with World grassroots Football Development Day, World Family Day and Nurses Day which fitted into the ideologies of the JFK Academy and was just so right for the Nursery of footballers.
More than 100 children took part in the festival alongwith with boys who have already graduated from the Academy, joining in from Pune . Puma sponsored gifts to all the children who were between the ages of 5 to 20 years. Master Ribhav Sardesai one of the first students of this Academy was felicitated for his achievement in representing India at Mashaad U-14 AFC championship..
This academy was started in the year 2007, by Xisto Pais and Maymol Rocky with just 5 children and their parents support.
The name symbolises the motto that every child has the right to play. The lovely logo indicates the support of the parents.
Xisto Pais and Maymol Rocky both started the academy with no real qualification other than intense passion for football and children. This academy is actually in line with FIFA’s guidelines that children of any Academy should be from within a 10 km radius of the Academy. Today Maymol Rocky has completed her “C”, “B” and is well halfway to completing her “A” license coaching qualification. The “A” license is held by only a few coaches in India. She is also India’s under 16 girls coach.
The Academy stresses on learning the rules of Football and enjoying the game. The children play without any pressure. There are children from this Academy who have joined big clubs in Goa and Pune. 3 boys are in Pune while one has represented India under 14. What is learned is not only the skills and experience to play football, but human values, like brotherhood, compassion towards teammates and opponents as well, respect for coaches and elders and sharing and bonding among the students.
Xisto hopes that when the youngsters go out from this academy they will either become footballers, sports lovers, or football spectators with great understanding of the game.
Once with academy – this bond never breaks.
