Vasco Railway Station third cleanest ‘A’ class station
Swachh Railways - Swachh Bharat Mission
Vasco railway station has been declared the third cleanest ‘A’ class railway station amongst over 8000 railway stations across the country.
This was based on a survey commissioned by the railways under the Swachh Railways – Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Station Manager Mr. P.C. Chacko and the Health Inspector Mr. Awadesh Kumar were felicitated for this achievement by the Hon’ble Governor of Goa, Dr. Mridula Sinha at the Raj Bhavan recently.
Mr. Chacko also urged the Mormugao municipality to ensure that the approach and exit roads to the railway station are kept litter free and clean.
At present the exit road is in a very unhygienic state with garbage and people using it as a public toilet. The entrance road has gaddas selling tea and snacks early mornings and the area gets littered with paper cups, waste food and water. The fountain installed at Joshi Chowk is also non-functional. Improvement of these areas would make the entrance to the town impressive and present a pleasant first sight to a visitor.
The MMC needs to make this a priority as part of their Clean Vasco Campaign.
