She imbibed her interest in the culinary art from her mother who whipped up lip-smacking Goan-Portuguese dishes. Marriage into a Maharashtrian family and interactions with friends from across the different states widened her culinary horizons. Rita also honed her skills through short courses.

With encouragement and support from family and friends Rita finally took the plunge into teaching t  he cuisines from across the country and the world.

She holds the Cookery Classes in an eco-friendly and relaxed environment. The garden with a lovely Gazebo amongst the lush green fruit bearing trees, ornamental and spice plants interspersed with pottery and stone work makes it the right ambience for the cookery classes confining it to small batches.

Rita not only introduces you to the basic ingredients that go into various Cuisines but also guides you through step by step journey in culinary preparation in an easy and an understanding manner. With the increase in popularity amongst the locals, Rita’s Gourmet is also now frequented by both domestic and international tourists. The classes are also very popular with tourists on culinary tour to India especially from New Zealand and Australia. Tourists from South Africa, UK etc. are also part of the day’s classes. She also conducts Children’s Cookery Camps during the winter and summer breaks.

Meanwhile, a year ago Rita has given a small startup to her takeaway business which is now getting popular with residents staying in and around Dabolim. Italian dishes right from Baked Lasagna, Stuffed Cannelloni to Tiramisu and Goan-Portuguese dishes from Rissios, Cafreal to Serradurra are much sought for apart from Cheese Cakes, Dutch Truffles etc.
